As part of the Pilot Light mission to provide children with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to have healthy relationships with food, Pilot Light supports teachers in delivering its cohesive model for classroom-based food education, incorporating food as a lens for traditional subjects, such as Math, Reading, History, and Science.

In order to build the pipeline of talented teachers providing leadership in food education, Pilot Light launched its Food Education Fellowship in Spring of 2019.  The organization seeks highly-motivated K-12-grade teachers in Chicago who are committed to delivering weekly classroom-based food education. Fellows will be supported with Pilot Light resources while partnering with Pilot Light to evaluate their work and develop Pilot Light’s own library of instructional materials, to be shared with teachers nationwide.

Pilot Light is proud to welcome our inaugural cohort of Food Education Teacher Fellows, which includes 13 highly-motivated teachers committed to the Pilot Light mission and making food education a priority for their students.
