Elementary School Fine Arts (Theater/Speech) Teacher in Chicago, IL
Francis W. Parker Community Academy
2025-26 Fellow: Ms. Ambrose: “My name is Ms. Ambrose. I have been teaching for 15 plus years. I first became interested in the Pilot Light Fellowship after talking to two alumni from the program. As a Fellow, I am looking forward to spreading the knowledge of Food Nutrition to my students and parents. I am currently in my second year of teaching Fine Arts (Theater/Speech).”
Favorite Food Education Standard: FES #5: Food Impacts Health.
The standard that sticks out the most is number 5 (Food impacts health). This sticks out the most because kids have to begin understanding how food choices can affect them short term and long term. Especially, if there are certain illnesses in the family. Making the right choices now can help avoid those concerns later.
A Favorite Food Memory or Recipe:
My favorite food memory was making pound cake with my grandmother and my mother when I was a little girl. The best part was when she would make a sample cake patty for me to taste. It smelled so good coming out the oven. Taste testing was an important job, and I was so excited to do it.
What I’m Most Excited About as a New Fellow:
I am most excited about researching, planning, sharing, and engaging in fun activities that will promote healthy choices with our youth of today. The other part of my excitement is being able to collaborate and share with other Fellows in this journey.
