Kelly Ackmann Marks – 1st Grade All Contents at Academy for Global Citizenship- Chicago, IL
Lovingly called Ms. A by her students or “Chef A” if it’s a cooking-integrated lesson, Kelly’s passion for education stems from influential teachers throughout her life as well as her innovative mother who taught. Working in bilingual classrooms inspires Kelly, and quite simply, makes her happy. She is a firm believer that you can never understand one language until you understand at least two. Supporter of hands-on learning, Kelly likes to integrate technology into the classroom and works to inspire independent learners who have a true love for learning and themselves. To quote Julia Child, “Find something you’re passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.” Kelly teaches 1st Grade at the Academy for Global Citizenship. AGC is the place to be through their innovation and commitment to sustainability and raising healthy students, while providing children with knowledge that enhances their educational experience by encouraging mindful eating. When she is not teaching, she enjoys knitting, fishing up north, trying new recipes, and spending time with her husband, Kevin, and dog, Biscuit.
