The first Food Education in Action Week was a success! Read our full recap here. We continue to encourage educators to use these resources to help plan Food Education activities and events in their school community and share their stories with us all year round!
Take action this October by participating in Pilot Light’s first ever Food Education in Action Week!
Food Education in Action week is an opportunity for educators to share their stories and get their school communities involved in their Food Education work.
All Food Education teachers are invited to participate in this week of action! Promote your work and activate your school community during the week of October 7th-11th (or any time in October)! This is a week to shine a spotlight on the incredible Food Education work being done in classrooms across the country. Additionally, we hope to raise awareness about the importance of Food Education in communities nationwide.

- Create a shared school food experience:

- Collaborate with a School Food Professional to read about food to your students and share about their work in the school cafeteria
- Work with another teacher at your school to have a shared classroom cooking or food experience.
Why Take Action?
We want to celebrate the impact that Food Education has on teachers, students, schools, and communities! Additionally, we want to support teachers with advocacy tools and strategies that they can use any time during the school year. Finally, we want to raise awareness about our unique model of integrated food systems education.

Note: There is a lot going on in our worlds and not everyone has space for advocacy right now. We invite you to participate if you have the interest and capacity. We also invite you to sit this one out if rest is what you need, we will see you next time!
