Judith Martin – 2019-2020 Fellow

Judith Martin – 5th and 6th Grade Social Studies/Humanities and Advisory at Disney II Elementary School

Judith Martin has been teaching with CPS for eight years and is currently working at Disney II as the 5th and 6th-grade Humanities teacher. Judith received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from DePaul University, and a short time later she returned to DePaul to obtain her Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning. After teaching in the primary grades for four years, she decided to attend Concordia University to receive her second Masters in Educational Leadership.

Judith is a native of Chicago. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and exploring the city through the eyes of her son and daughter.

This will be Judith’s third year being a part of the Pilot Light community. She is eager to continue developing lessons and helping students have more awareness about food education and the food education standards. She feels that the authenticity of Pilot Light lessons allows her students to truly engage and connect to the learning that is taking place in her classroom. She hopes to incorporate layers of social-emotional learning into her Pilot Light lessons to help students develop self-awareness and a sense of community.
