Alison Pollock – 6th Grade Science at Rowe Middle School
While Alison Pollock is going into her tenth year as an educator, she is going into her fifth year as a Rowe Middle School teacher. RMS is a CPS Charter School located in the Noble Square neighborhood, and it serves scholars who live in all neighborhoods within the city limits of Chicago. Specifically, she teaches sixth grade, Earth, and Space Science. Alison’s favorite part of being a science teacher is that scholars are eager to learn and enthusiastic about hands-on learning opportunities. When scholars are motivated by opportunities for academic and social-emotional growth, the possibilities of success are limitless. She is honored to be chosen as a team member of the Pilot Light Food Education Fellowship! There is a motto commonly used in the science department – “Science is Life!” She is thrilled to live out this slogan while utilizing food as a lens into our various topics of study. Supporting scholars in making positive choices will not only upkeep academic growth but their overall health as a youthful individual.
