Daniel Dwyer – 6th Grade ELA Literacy and 4th-8th Grade Director of Literacy at The Montessori School of Englewood- Chicago, IL
My name is Daniel Dwyer, and I am the Director of Literacy, Data, and Assessment at The Montessori School of Englewood. I began my 16-year teaching career in the Vickery Meadows neighborhood in Dallas, Texas, and moved to Chicago in 2017 to continue teaching in North Lawndale. As part of my growth and education, I completed my M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy. I am a huge book nerd, and you can regularly find one or two books on me at all times. I am very lucky to have a career where I get to read and explore literacy with students all day long. I believe in the power of learning, reading, and authentic expression of your community and self. We learn through stories, and we change the world through them. Give a student the power of words and everything changes. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy camping, running with my dog, and playing volleyball and tennis. I am excited about food education and learning how I can engage my students in new and exciting ways.
