Ann Kriebel – 3rd Grade Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies at West Lafayette Elementary School – Lafayette, IN
I was born in Chicago and raised in Indiana. I am starting my 20th year of teaching at West Lafayette Elementary School and am currently teaching 3rd grade. I am a proud Purdue University graduate – Boiler Up! Purdue’s main campus is just a few miles from our school corporation, so we have many international students. This means that everyone has the opportunity to learn about different cultures via language and food!
I am a foodie at heart, and will read cookbooks just for fun. I recently procured funding to create a working classroom “kitchen.” Student motivation was through the roof as they created and tasted new foods. This hands-on learning helped them master important math and reading skills as they followed recipes, measured ingredients, and calculated baking times. Everyone eats, and everyone can participate in food preparation. I am looking forward to incorporating the Food Education Standards into my instruction this year so my students can explore the depth and breadth of the impact food has on their lives and the lives of others.
My husband and I have three children, 26, 22, and 19. We love hanging out with them whenever we can! We love to travel and visit new restaurants! I also love to read and host gatherings for family and friends!
