Robert Guttman is a lawyer, strategic adviser and long-time business executive with over 40 years of professional experience. During his corporate career he served as general counsel to three public companies, most recently as SVP, General Counsel & Secretary of Ulta Beauty where he took the company public in 2007 and was instrumental in working with its Board and management teams to develop and refine the company’s high growth algorithm. While at Ulta, Robert was a member of its Executive Committee and had responsibility for all legal and regulatory affairs, also serving as head of Human Resources; in addition, he had oversight for the company’s Internal Audit, Loss Prevention, and Procurement functions at various times. During his tenure with Ulta, he was a member of the Legal Advisory Board for World Business Chicago.
Robert is a committed patron and supporter of the arts; he recently was elected to the Boards of the Hyde Park Jazz Festival and the South Side Community Art Center. He holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Illinois-Chicago, and a JD from UIC- (formerly John Marshall) Law School. He has been an adjunct instructor at the Santa Barbara City College.
