Raj’s career spans 4 positions across three financial services firms. Starting at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, he provided assurance and advisory services to hedge funds, private equity funds, banks, and other financial institutions. During his time at Ernst & Young LLP, Raj provided merger and acquisition advisory services including financial due diligence, real estate due diligence associated with transactions, business development services, and restructuring services to a broad base of clients. Raj joined JPMorgan Chase & Co. in 2010 as a Vice President in the Corporate & Investment Bank and was tasked with managing initiatives including legal entity mergers, legal entity client migrations, and various other debt card product strategic initiatives.
In his current role as an Executive Director within the Commercial Bank, Raj is a managing member of a strategy team which is accountable for the oversight of portfolio risk and the delivery of risk analyses, key controls and regulatory compliance nationally for the Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries (MMBSI) business. Raj and his team has purview over a client portfolio of 15,000 corporate relationships and is (a) dedicated to understanding, analyzing and developing recommendations related to the various anti-money laundering, operational and reputational risks that exist within the portfolio, and (b) responsible for strategic efforts and banker/market team empowerment through business/process improvement initiatives. Raj leads a large volume of complex, fast-paced, highly visible projects, often with wide-spread market and client impact, at the direction of the Head of MMBSI, Commercial Bank CEO, or other members of executive management.
Raj’s true passion lies in philanthropy, volunteerism, and building relationships. Raj began his philanthropic career volunteering across various causes in high school and throughout college. After moving to Chicago, Raj involved himself in a broad base of causes and sat on the board of directors for a number of non-profits, including the Habitat For Humanity Junior Board, Avanse (f/k/a Charity4Life), the Heartland Alliance Junior Board, and was also an advocate/fundraiser/volunteer for BrightPink, Imerman Angels, the Wounded Warrior Project, and other organizations. At JPMorgan Chase & Co., he has served as a member of the JPMorgan Executive Service Corp volunteering in Johannesburg, South Africa, as co-chair of the Chicago Volunteer Leadership Group, and as co-chair for the NextGen networking group. Recently, Raj joined the BoardLead Program on behalf of JPMorgan Chase & Co., and through that program, now serves as an executive board member for Pilot Light. Raj has also served on the executive advisory boards for Toggle, Inc. and Vox Populi Magazine / Marche Pénible.
Beyond his career and philanthropy work, in the remainder of his free time, Raj focuses on expanding his professional and social networks, performing as a singer/songwriter/guitarist, exploring new restaurants and foods, and is an avid at-home chef with a passion for modern cuisine.
