Dr. Afina Lockhart

Dr. Afina Lockhart has been an educator for over 25 years. Her life’s journey led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia. Upon graduation, Dr. Lockhart returned to Chicago and worked as a credit analyst for American National Bank. With a deep influence from a wide range of public school educators, she enrolled in Roosevelt University Chicago to complete a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education and an endorsement in General Science.  She continued her pursuit in Education by completing a Doctorate of Curriculum and Instruction as well as earning an endorsement in School Supervision and a Superintendent ’s Endorsement at Loyola University Chicago.  

Dr. Lockhart has served as a founding charter school teacher, district wide administrative leader, assistant principal, and principal for Chicago Public Schools. As an adjunct professor for Concordia University Chicago, Dr. Lockhart was the proud  instructor of the Evaluation, Assessment and Data-Driven Decision Making and Instructional Coaching for Effective Teaching Community of Practice courses for PhD candidates.

Most recently Dr. Lockhart served as Site Director for College Track New Orleans, the largest college completion program in the City of New Orleans, Louisiana. She is now the a Regional Instructional Specialist for Phalen Leadership Academies and enjoys volunteering with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Chicago Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter, Élan Academy Charter School, Academic Achievement School Board Committee, and Pilot Light Chicago as a member of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Lockhart is the oldest of 7 siblings, Tanzania, Nnaemka, Chijioke, Kelechi, Rashunda and LaToya, and the proud aunt of 6 nieces and 5 nephews all-residing in the Chicago, Houston, Memphis and Dallas areas.
