Cooking Up Achievement in the Classroom: The Case for Food Education

What if there was a new field in K12 education devoted to food education? Please join Pilot Light for a discussion on the need for food education in our schools to support healthier outcomes for our children. Moderator: Monica Eng–Reporter, WBEZ Panelists include: Katie Wilson, PhD–former Deputy Under Secretary of Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Sciences at the United States Department of Agriculture appointed by President Obama Chef Josh Kulp–Chef and Owner of Honey Butter Fried Chicken and Sunday Dinner Club and former New York City Public School Teacher Chandra Garcia-Kitch–3rd Grade Teacher, Ray Elementary School and Pilot Light Board Member David Lohrmann, PhD–Professor and Chair of Applied Health Sciences at Indiana University This event is free to University of Chicago students and trainees. Snacks will be provided by The Publican. Wine and beer will be provided to guests 21+.
